(1) Solvent Extraction Method

This is one of the most commonly used extraction methods. According to the polarity and solubility of the extract, a suitable solvent (such as ethanol, water, acetone, etc.) is selected to soak, boil, or reflux the raw material. For example, water is used to extract water-soluble components from traditional Chinese medicine, and ethanol is used to extract fat-soluble components.
 

(2) Steam Distillation Method

It is mainly used to extract volatile components that can be distilled with steam without being destroyed, such as volatile oils and certain small molecule alkaloids. This method is suitable for the extraction of aromatic components from plant raw materials, such as the extraction of rose essential oil and peppermint oil.
 

(3) Supercritical Fluid Extraction Method

Extraction is performed using supercritical fluids (such as carbon dioxide) in a supercritical state, which has high diffusivity and strong solubility. This method has the advantages of high extraction efficiency, good selectivity, and no solvent residue, and is often used to extract heat-sensitive and easily oxidized components, such as natural vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids.
 

(4) Ultrasonic Extraction Method

Through the cavitation, mechanical vibration, and thermal effects of ultrasound, the diffusion of the extract from the raw material to the solvent is accelerated. Compared with traditional extraction methods, ultrasonic extraction has the advantages of short extraction time, high extraction rate, and simple operation, and has been widely used in the preparation of plant, animal, and microbial extracts.
 

(5) Microwave-Assisted Extraction Method

Using the thermal and non-thermal effects of microwaves to cause the cells in the raw materials to rupture and accelerate the release of effective components. This method has the characteristics of fast extraction speed, low energy consumption, and good selectivity, and is suitable for the extraction of various natural raw materials.
